In the Bible the word church is a translation of the Greek word ekklesia, meaning "a calling out." It never refers to a building or meeting place, but always to people, the ones "called out" of the world's society by God calling them into His service. At Princeton United Methodist Church we believe we are called to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the World.
“What if church wasn’t just a place where people spend an hour on Sundays? What if there wasn’t just one door into the church but 10,000? And what if we began thinking about ‘church’ as a verb instead of a noun?” says the Rev. Larry Hollon, top staff executive of United Methodist Communications. This is the concept behind our denomination's Rethink Church campaign. The campaign seeks to expand awareness among Christians about what church is all about, generate new ideas, and encourage global spiritual dialogue.
