We Need Servant Leaders

Acolytes: We need young people to serve as acolytes. Here are the duties:

Please be sure to list your full name, grade in school, have you been an acolyte before (yes or no), telephone, e-mail address and which service you wish to serve (9:30 or 11 a.m.). Altar Flowers: If you would like to purchase altar flowers to beautify the church on a particular Sunday, please send an e-mail to altar-guild(at)princetonumc.org.
Altar Guild Volunteers: Are you interested in finding a way to serve in worship? Altar Guild volunteers help prepare the sanctuary for worship, baptism and communion at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services. Appalachian Service Project: Throughout the year, this group holds fundraisers to help finance their summer trip. Volunteers are needed to staff these events. In addition adults are needed to go on the trip to Appalachia. If interested please contact the asp-planning-team-group(at)princetonumc.org.
Children's Church Program needs volunteers: (1) Adults to teach once/month on a rotating basis. Lesson plans and materials will be supplied. (2) High school students to help lead the program. (3) Parents to assist with the class, on a rotating basis and share the running of the program when the Coordinator is not available.. Without you, this exciting program will not work. Pray on it. Church Office: We need volunteers to help once a month with folding and mailing of the Chimes newsletter and on a weekly basis with folding and inserts for the Sunday Bulletin. If you'd like to help, please contact Linda at office(at)princetonumc.org
Church Library: We are looking for volunteers to help get the word out about our newly organized church library. You might work on things like reaching out to the Sunday school classes and planning activities for them, making displays, writing book reviews, or whatever other ideas you would like to try. No previous library experience is needed, just an enthusiasm for books and encouraging folks to read and learn. If this is you, please contact us at church-library(at)princetonumc.org.
Church School Teachers needed: We need one teacher for the Kindergarten - First Grade Class and two for the Fourth - Fifth grade class, which meet during the 9:30 service. Teachers are in teams of four; you will be asked for two weekends a month. Guidance supplied by experienced teachrs; curriculum supplied by Cokesbury; gratitude supplied by the parents; courage granted by Jesus; you bring the enthusiasm. Coffee Hour Hosts are needed. Volunteers are asked to please sign-up in the Sanford Davis Room. Many spots are open for the 11 a.m. service. During the summer, we need Coffee Hour hosts for the 10 a.m. service. This is easier as the beverage is cold drinks only. Please contact coffee-hour(at)princetonumc.org.

Drivers, Food Deliverers, People to Call/Visit the Homebound. The Membership Committee would like to undertake a new program to coordinate assistance for members of the congregation who need transportation to medical appointments, meals during illnesses or stressful times, and calls or visits for those who are homebound. In order to offer this program, we first need a list of those among us who can help. Please include your name, address, phone number, email address and whether you can 1. offer rides to appointments, 2. meals or other food, or 3. help with calls or visits. Thanks.
Greeters Needed: The Growth Committee is looking for people to be Sunday morning greeters. While we have enough people for the parking lot entrance, we still need people for the front door on Nassau Street. This is a great opportunity to get to know the members of the congregation better as well as welcome visitors to our church. We are currently working on a schedule for the fall. Growth Committee We are looking to add some enthusiastic, creative members to the PUMC Growth Committee – perhaps you could join us! The Growth Committee is responsible for bringing people through the doors of our church and helping them feel welcome. The number of spiritual and stimulating programs going on at PUMC is multiplying and we need committee members who can help us develop and implement strategies to get the word out about the multitude of opportunities for individuals in our community to worship, serve and enjoy fellowship with us. Hall Monitors are needed During Worship. With Church School at 9:30 a.m. and Children's Church at 11 a.m. and in order to fully implement the Safe Sanctuary Policy, PUMC needs five to six hall monitors to work alternate Sundays during the services. At the 9:30 service the monitor would help Sunday School teachers take attendance, collect offerings, check in on classes for occasional and unusual needs, help take younger children to/from the bathrooms, and monitor the hallways for stray "sheep." At the 11:00 AM service the principal duty would be monitoring the halls. A portion of the sentry duty can be spent listening to the sermon from the Sanford-Davis Room. We are seeking at least four people to be monitors so they can do the job on a rotating basis. To sign up, please contact church-school(at)princetonumc.org
Knitters and Crocheters! Throughout the year, our extraordinary knitters and crocheters fashion hundreds of wool caps and gloves for disadvantaged children -- just in time for Christmas. They are also challenging the Sunday School to match their gifts and donate lots and lots of pairs of mittens or gloves to the PUMC mitten tree. All members are invited to contribute to the mitten tree. Just bring your donations into church on Sunday morning and look for the mitten tree in the Sanford-Davis Room.
Nursery: Volunteers are needed to provide care for our youngest members at the 11:00 a.m. time slot on Sunday mornings. To volunteer, please contact the church office office(at)princetonumc.org

Host a Princeton University Student: The Growth Committee is looking for PUMC families to “Host a Princeton University Student” for the 2011-12 school year. PUMC families will be paired up with students who participate in the Christian fellowship at Princeton University through the Wesley Foundation, the United Methodist Church’s on-campus ministry. PUMC families would be asked, at a minimum, to invite their “adopted” student over for a home-cooked meal in the fall and again in the spring. Saturday Evening Worship Gatherings: We need members to help with this NEW worship service. Specifically we need help setting up and operating the sound system, fellowship and refreshment at the service, worship service coordinators to help plan and lead worship services, services for students (help with meals and laundry), decorators to help create the appropriate worship environment, welcomers and greeters, young people from our church to attend the services.
Summer Sunday Program: We need adults and high school students to help with costumes, help with crafts, serve refreshments and help coordinate the small plays that are part of this program. A sign up sheet is located Please contact education(at)princetonumc.org

Youth Group Volunteers: We are looking for any and all individuals who want to spend time with youth! You can help in many ways: cook a meal, drive to an event, become a youth advisor, join us for a Sunday night by leading a game or leading a lesson! The possibilities are endless! Interested?
